Secret Fishing Tip: Hold Your Lips Right

I wanted to wait until there were some readers of Reel Good Fishing before I discussed one of my most secret tips. It has been passed down from generation to generation. It is simplicity; it is complex. It is holding your lips right.

“Why can’t I catch any fish?”, I asked. “Your not holding your lips right.”, My Grandfather replied. Oh, well if that’s all, how do I do this and let’s get to it. He explained, as he did when he told me he was an Indian, the top lip and the bottom lip go in opposite directions. “Like this?”, I struggled to talk. He was laughing, so I must have got it right.

Will this actually help you catch more fish? No, but the bond between my Grandfather and I grew stronger while we were fishing. It did teach me that you can have fun when the fish aren’t biting. Sometimes, when i’m fishing, and no one is looking, I’ll crink my lips all up for luck, and think of my Grandfather.
